Pinto para no olvidar
2020
I Paint So I Don't Forget is a fictional pictorial journal, told in the first person. I constructed the images from a mixture of stories from women who worked from home during the pandemic and self-referential photographs. The project explores the emotional dimension of individual routines in the intimacy of the home and the transformations of labor relations, technology, and affective bonds during the social distancing imposed by SARS-CoV-2. I Paint So I Don't Forget is a statement on the value of micro-narratives in constructing memories. This series of paintings are records of frustrations, anxieties, and, at the same time, the search for refuges to resist. The project also problematizes the paradoxes of painting during a crisis: it's like a cake full of cracks and fissures.
